These tips can be used by individuals in the healthcare field to communicate and work with people with visible and invisible disabilities.

State Resources

Directory of Community Resources in Texas

The DCR is a dynamic, locally-referenced directory of disability resources in Texas. The purpose of the DCR is to connect individuals with disabilities, their families, and service providers with organizations and agencies that provide disability-specific resources and services. The DCR can be used to locate resources in any area in Texas.

Medicare Plans Patient Resource Center

As a Medicare patient resource center (Note: we do not sell or provide healthcare plans), we’ve made it our mission to help people with disabilities to get the most out of Medicare. As I’m sure you already know, Medicare can be complicated and seem to be designed only for seniors who are 65 and older.

Many are not aware that Medicare also provides benefits for people living with disabilities regardless of their age. To help highlight this program for those under 65 with disabilities, we have published a comprehensive guide to understanding eligibility, coverage, and, most importantly, how to navigate the enrollment process.

Intelligent.com

Pursuing higher education is exciting and stressful for every college-bound student, but it can be more challenging for those with learning disabilities. It’s important that students who learn and think differently know how to get the additional support they may need.

We created an extensive planning guide for students with learning disabilities to ensure they understand their rights,  potential accommodations, and scholarships available specifically to them.

Addictions.com

Addictions.com offers a free & confidential 24/7 Rehab Helpline. We are not a treatment center and do not accept payments or advertising offers. Instead, we work to provide free resources to help people better understand their addiction and motivate them to make the first step in seeking support.
