The Texas Developmental Disabilities Network Partners are conducting a survey to collect stories about how Medicaid impacts people with disabilities and their family members. Stories will be shared with decision-makers in Texas so they know how you could be impacted by changes to Medicaid.

Do you or someone you know use Medicaid to get healthcare, dental care, prescriptions, medical equipment, etc.? In Texas, some of the Medicaid programs include STAR Kids, STAR+PLUS, the Home and the Community-Based Services (HCS) program, and the Medically Dependent Children Program (MDCP).

The Medicaid program has been in the news a lot lately. There have been multiple proposals that could impact the program and more changes could be proposed in the future. Over the past several months, people with disabilities and others successfully advocated to prevent cuts to Medicaid. However, decision-makers at the federal or state level could propose additional changes. What’s important is how changes to the program could affect Texans with disabilities and their families.

That’s why we’re conducting this survey: to give you an opportunity to tell your story about how Medicaid impacts your life. In the survey, we ask you to describe the types of Medicaid services you use and how your life would be different if you didn’t have Medicaid services. You can also upload a photo with your story.

Your story could be shared with leaders who make decisions about Medicaid. It is important that decision-makers in Texas understand how changes to Medicaid could affect people with disabilities. When changes to disability-related programs and services are considered, people with disabilities and their families should have input about the changes.

Your story is important! Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and share your story.
